Shekoofeha

Overview

Shekoofeha is a charity in the city of Ardebil, Iran, established and registered with the help of local philanthropists in March 2002 to take care of orphans and support children and families in need. Shokoofeha is a trusted local organization and has played an essential role in Ardebil by being home to 681 children in the last 20 years. A record 351 of them have been adopted by families, and 272 started their own independent life. Also, Shokoofeha currently is the home for 58 children, including 36 girls and 22 boys (including 11 infants). It also helps about 41 labor children, multiple children in foster homes, and provides financial support to assist low-income families with daily expenses. They are very well-trusted by the local community and have successfully established three centers.

Among the children, Shekoofeha is supporting 63, by helping them meet their academic aspirations. Here are brief statistics about these children and their grades:

What are we planning to do?

Due to the complex economic situation, Shekoofeha, which is run by donations from local donors, is hardly able to cover its basic needs like food and clothing for these children. We are planning to continue an extensive personalized educational program for each of these children which will include the following:

• Buying school books, supplies, backpacks, shoes/clothing and school uniforms at the beginning of the school year
• Providing three refresher classes (کلاس های تقویتی) throughout the year, for exam preparation during the first/second school semesters, and summer sessions
• Registering the children above 14 in skill set classes (کلاس های مهارت آموزی) to help them learn practical skills that will prepare them for the future - for example, tailoring classes, mechanics, etc.
• Registering the students in extracurricular activities classes like art and sports classes to provide a chance for them to know and nurture their talents like normal children
• Supplying supplemental teaching resources, including a pack of story books to encourage a lifelong love of reading

Our estimates show that we need about $14,600 USD to fully cover the educational needs of Shekoofeha's children.
