Shekoofeha

Overview

Shekoofeha is a charity in the city of Ardebil, Iran, established and registered with the help of local philanthropists in March 2002 to take care of orphans and support the children and families in need. Shokoofeha is a trusted local organization and has played an essential role in Ardebil by being home to 681 children in the last 20 years. A record 351 of them have been adopted by families, and 272 started their own independent life. Also, Shokoofeha currently is the home for 58 children, including 36 girls and 22 boys (including 11 infants). It also helps about 41 labor children and children in foster homes and in homes of their far but poor relatives by covering their daily costs. They are very well-trusted by the local community and have successfully established three centers.

Among the children, Shekoofeha is supporting 63 of them in going to school. Here is a brief statistic about these children and what grades they are in:

• Pre-Schoolers: 7
• Elementary Schoolers: 36
• Middle Schoolers: 7
• High Schoolers-Konkoories+Honerasten: 9
• College-Students: 1
• Dropped out of school: 3

What actions have been taken by Golestan's donors up to this point?

Due to the complex economic situation, Shekoofeha, which is run by receiving donations from local donors, is hardly able to cover its basic needs like food and clothing for these children. This leads to neglecting the educational needs of these 63 children. We are planning to help this trusted local organization in the city of Ardebil to cover these expenses. We are planning to continue an extensive personalized educational program for each of these children, which will include the following:

• Buying school books, supplies, stationeries, and backpacks at the beginning of the school year
• Buying shoes/clothing and school uniforms at the beginning of the school year for these children
• Having three series of refresher classes (کلاس های تقویتی) in courses which each of the students has problems with before the exams of the first school semester (امتحانات بهمن ماه) and second school semester (امتحانات شهریور) and during summer 2023
• Registering the children above 14 in skill set classes (کلاس های مهارت آموزی) to become readier for the time of their independence, for example: tailoring classes, mechanics, etc.
• Registering the students in extracurricular activities classes like art and sports classes to provide a chance for them to nurture and know their talents like a normal child
• Buying help books
• Buying a pack of story books to introduce them to the concept of reading

What are we planning to do?

We are planning to continue an extensive personalized educational program for each of these children which will include the following:

• Buying school books, supplies, stationeries, and backpacks at the beginning of the school year
• Buying shoes/clothing and school uniforms at the beginning of the school year for these children
