Overview

Maryam Charity, located in Neyshabour, Khorasan, started its work back in 2004, supporting underrepresented kids/orphans of the 6-13 age group. The charity is run by a board of trustees and has supported 210 kids since its establishment with the help of community donations. The charity’s mission is to support children both emotionally and financially with the help of dedicated personnel, including child therapists and instructors. The charity currently has 23 girls housed in a central facility, and a second facility for children has been constructed recently and is soon to be opened.

As mentioned, Maryam Charity is supporting 23 orphaned girls. and one of them is out of education due to problems she experienced during her childhood. What actions have been taken by Golestan's donors up to this point?

In the summer of 2022, Golestan did support the education of these children in a pilot program. We provided financial support for Maryam Charity to register the 23 children in 75 person-extracellular activity classes, including a variety of art and sports summer classes to nurture their talents and feel like normal children.

What are we planning to do?

We are planning to continue an extensive personalized educational program for each of these children, which will include the following:

• Buying school books, supplies, stationeries, and backpacks at the beginning of the school year
• Buying shoes/clothing and school uniforms at the beginning of the school year for these children
• Having three series of refresher classes (کلاس های تقویتی) in courses which each of the students have problems with before the exams of the first school semester (امتحانات بهمن ماه) and second school semester (امتحانات شهریور), and during summer 2023
• Registering the students in extracurricular activities classes like art and sports classes to provide a chance for them to nurture and know their talents like a normal child
• Book Supplements Teaching Resources
• Buying a pack of story books to introduce them to the concept of reading
