Golshan-e AleTaha

Overview

Golshan-e AleTaha, located in Ahvaz-Khuzestan, started its work back in 2012 with the help of local communities and public donations. The charity runs three centers, each supporting 20 children of 3-6, 6-9, and 9-12 ages, under the supervision of a board of trustees. As part of its activity, the charity also focuses on child labor, supporting over 240 child workers in Ahvaz. Through the generous support of donors, the institute has enabled more than 145 kids to start a new life and stand on their feet again. In addition, 120 child workers have enrolled in school, allowing them to resume on their educational pathways.

This institute is supporting 87 vulnerable children’s education. Here are brief statistics about these children and the grades they are in:

• Preschoolers: 10
• Elementary Schoolers: 49
• Middle Schoolers: 23
• High Schoolers-Konkoories: 5

What actions have been taken by Golestan's donors up to this point?

In the summer of 2022, Golestan supported the education of these children in a pilot program. We provided financial support for Golshan Charity to do the following for these 87 children:

• Registering these vulnerable children in 80-person extracurricular activity classes, including art and sports summer classes, to nurture their talents and feel like normal children.
• Holding 41 in-person series of refresher classes for the school courses that these children have problems in.

What are we planning to do?

We are planning to continue an extensive personalized educational program for each of these children which will include the following:

• Buying school books, supplies, backpacks, shoes/clothing and school uniforms at the beginning of the school year
• Providing three refresher classes (کلاس های تقویتی) throughout the year, for exam preparation during the first/second school semesters, and summer sessions
• Registering the children above 14 in skill set classes (کلاس های مهارت آموزی) to help them learn practical skills that will prepare them for the future - for example, tailoring classes, mechanics, etc.
• Registering the students in extracurricular activities classes like art and sports classes to provide a chance for them to know and nurture their talents like normal children
• Supplying supplemental teaching resources, including a pack of story books to encourage a lifelong love of reading

Our estimates show that we need about $19,400 USD to fully cover the educational needs of Golshan’s children. These children need your donation and support to get a decent education, to be able to nurture their talents and become financially independent and functional members of society when they grow up.
