Golshan-e AleTaha

Overview

Golshan-e AleTaha, located in Ahvaz-Khuzestan, started its work back in 2012 with the help of local communities and public donations. The charity runs three centers, each supporting 20 children of 3-6, 6-9, and 9-12 ages, under the supervision of a board of trustees. As part of its activity, the charity also focuses on child labor, supporting over 240 child workers in Ahvaz. Through the generous support of the donors, the institute has enabled more than 145 kids to start a new life and stand on their feet again. In addition, 120 child workers have been enabled to resume their education.

This institute is supporting 87 vulnerable children’s education. Following are brief statistics about this institute’s children’s grades: - Preschoolers: 10 - Elementary Schoolers: 49 - Middle Schoolers: 23 - High Schoolers-Konkoories: 5

What actions have been taken by Golestan's donors up to this point?

In the summer of 2022, Golestan supported the education of these children in a pilot program. We provided financial support for Golshan Charity to do the following for these 87 children:

• Registering these vulnerable children in 80-person extracurricular activity classes, including art and sports summer classes, to nurture their talents and feel like normal children.
• Holding 41 in-person series of refresher classes for the school courses that these children have problems in.

What are we planning to do?

We are planning to continue an extensive personalized educational program for each of these children which will include the following: - Buying school books, supplies, stationeries, and backpacks at the beginning of the school year - Buying shoes/clothing and school uniforms at the beginning of the school year for these children - Having three series of refresher classes (کلاس های تقویتی) in courses which each of the students have problems with before the exams of the first school semester (امتحانات بهمن ماه) and second school semester (امتحانات شهریور), and during summer 2023 - Registering the children above 14 in skill set classes (کلاس های مهارت آموزی) to become readier for the time of their independence, for example: tailoring classes, mechanics, and etc. - Registering the students in extracurricular activities classes like art and sports classes to provide a chance for them to nurture and know their talents like a normal child - Book Supplements Teaching Resources - Buying a pack of story books to introduce them to the concept of reading

Our estimates show that we need about $19,400 USD to fully cover the educational needs of Golshan’s children.
