Boostan of Omid and Rahmat

Overview

Boostan of Omid and Rahmat (بوستان امید و رحمت کردستان), located in Sanandaj—the capital of Kurdistan Province—was established in 2016. The organization is managed by a board of directors and primarily funded through donations from the local community.

The center currently provides residential care for 9 children. Many of the resident children have experienced significant trauma and require ongoing psychological support.

To address these needs, the center employs trained professionals, including psychologists and social workers, who continuously monitor and support the children’s well-being. Education is also a core priority, with targeted efforts to ensure all supported children receive consistent academic support.

What actions have been taken by Golestan's donors up to this point?

Golestan donors provided financial and programmatic support to enhance both educational and developmental outcomes for these children. This support enabled the organization to:

• Deliver skills training programs, including knitting, tailoring, and cooking
• Offer creative arts education, such as painting and puppet-making
• Conduct academic refresher classes in key subjects, including mathematics and Arabic
• Organize educational and recreational trips to support social development
• Provide targeted support for children with disabilities, including those with Down syndrome
• Facilitate therapy and physiotherapy sessions to address physical and psychological needs
• Supply sports equipment, including swimming gear, to encourage physical activity

What are we planning to do?

We aim to continue supporting this trusted local organization by implementing a comprehensive, personalized educational program for each child. This includes:

• Providing essential school supplies at the beginning of the academic year (books, backpacks, clothing, shoes, and uniforms)
• Organizing three rounds of refresher classes throughout the year to support exam preparation across both semesters and summer sessions
• Enrolling children aged 14 and above in vocational and skills-based training programs (e.g., tailoring, mechanics) to prepare them for future independence
• Ensuring access to extracurricular activities such as art and sports to foster creativity, confidence, and emotional well-being
• Distributing enriched learning materials, including storybooks, to promote reading habits and long-term educational engagement
